Supply Chain Planning and Analytics

About the Conference

The ability to capture the market and guarantee sustainable performance depends on the ability to anticipate, adapt and transform.  Starting with each individual employee, within a company and across a supply chain, the challenge lies in making business decisions with uncertain and conflicting information about future demand, available production capacity, and sources of supply.

It is highly complex balancing act, involving tradeoffs along many dimensions;  inventory targets vs. customer service levels, older products vs. newer ones, direct customers vs. channel partners – and requiring the compromise of constituents – sales, marketing, operations, procurement, product development, finance, as well as suppliers and customers.

The key focus of this year’s conference is to explore the opportunities the effective supply chain planning and analytics brings to companies in reaching and exceeding their strategic goals, and to empower each supply chain employee with the necessary methods and tools for better operational decision making.

Workshop 1: Take control over your inventory Jerica Budič , Danfoss Trata d.o.o. | Marko Jakšič, Faculty of Economics Ljubljana | Anže Mis, Adacta Group

Effective inventory management and the resulting cash flow optimization are some of the key goals for most of the businesses. Despite the trends towards increased flexibility and agility, inventories remain a fact of life for manufacturing, retail and distribution companies.

In the workshop we focus on presenting the tools and “best practices” that will help you to pinpoint the factors influencing your inventory decisions, how to optimize the stock levels, what techniques can improve your inventory planning and control. We will present and outline top levers that a company needs to follow from process, modelling, visualization and management perspective.

The workshop is a good place to get a quick overview of Inventory Management Must Do’s, through an interactive hands-on approach to dealing with inventory challenges.

Workshop 2: Aligning pricing & procurement to achieve maximum profitability with minimum risk Aleš Groznik, Faculty of Economics Ljubljana | Niko Järnberg, Grant Thornton Advisory/Incertus

The workshop focuses on how to ensure that the material costs variations are optimally transferred to the customer trough pricing.

Participants will learn how to analyze the procurement to sales chain as a whole, from the point of view of risk.

Leading theme of the workshop is that wrong approaches to pricing can lead to dramatic swings in demand, making the ordering of material very difficult and driving up costs. Another central theme is that trying to reduce raw material price risk in isolation might actually lead to more risk for the whole company, if we at the same time do not take into account the demand swings.

Workshop is centered around a case study from Slovenian metal industry, where dramatics swings in metal price indexes has forced the industry adapt to this high material price risk environment.

Workshop 3: Taking Sales & Operations Planning for Manufacturers to the Next Level Raul Intriago, Novartis

This workshop will help participants to understand the key enablers and manage the key challenges for making the S&OP process within their companies a success. By completing the workshop participants will be able to understand the 5 key S&OP process steps and what is needed to link them in a consistent process across the company.

Workshop 4: Modeling supply chain network and reducing logistic cost Peter Roblek, S&T Slovenija

Workshop presents participants quick overview of modeling supply chain network. Requirements such as input data, cost and constraint are needed to simulate existing network. With an advanced solving methods the cost reduction will be show in demo company using tool called Infor Network Design.

This workshop will help participants to:

  • Get the overview of supply chain network modeling
  • Understanding requirements for modeling
  • Modeling sites, lanes and relationship
  • Logistic cost and revenue modeling
  • Constraining supply chain network
  • Baselining actual supply chain network
  • Optimizing network with advanced solving methods
  • Exploring benefits comparing with a baseline
Workshop 5: How does your supply chain model fit to your market requirements? Dušan Andrejič, PROCESSI d.o.o.

Every industry has different requirements changed by new product innovation, partners collaboration, legal and industry specific standards, market development and new possibilities with IT support.

We will focus on:

  • Supply chain strategic model
  • Supply chain planning (Forecasting, Production Planning, Purchasing planning and Distribution)
  • Supply Chain execution with material flow integration
  • IT role in SCM
Workshop 6: Supply Chain Transformation in practice Nenad Banjac, Atlantic Grupa
  • Growth has slowed. Volatility has increased. The world is more global.
  • Supply chain excellence matters more than ever.
  • No one can snap their fingers and delivery supply chain success.
  • It is happens over the course of many years and it is measured in millimeters not in kilometers.
  • Intend of workshop is to create discussion on the dimensions of supply chain and operational management within organization and how Atlantic Grupa will not reinvent the SCM wheel and how will transform Supply chain using metrics that matters.
